What is Six Sigma?

Six Sigma (6σ) is a set of techniques and tools for process improvement. It was introduced by American engineer Bill Smith while working at Motorola in 1986.  A six sigma process is one in which 99.99966% of all opportunities to produce some feature of a part are statistically expected to be free of defects.

Do I need to take the Six Sigma Yellow Belt course before taking the Six Sigma Green Belt course?

No, but often professionals will work through the different levels of accreditation during their career. However professional can enter the six sigma world at any level.

How do I become a member of the ISSP?

How can I get my previous six sigma training certified by the ISSP

First join as a member and then send in a portfolio of evidence which meets the appropriate level. The ISSP will then review your portfolio and issue certification if it meets our standards.

What is Minitab?

Minitab is the standard software used for by many for Six Sigma projects. It is allows you to perform statistical analysis with graphical representations through pre-programmed mathematical calculations without needing to know the maths required. It is the most popular statistical software option for Six Sigma projects. Although the ISSP has no financial links with Minitab Inc. we do recommend the product as a tool to help ISSP professionals on their Six Sigma journey, alternatives are available.
