CEO / Co-Founder

Steve is a leading UK Six Sigma Master Black Belt, helping solve complex problems in complex organisations. He provides bespoke in-house courses at all levels, as well as mentoring for Black Belts, and consultancy on challenging issues.

He is the CEO of The Institute of Six Sigma Professionals, is setting standards for Six Sigma in the UK, and is collaborating with Professor Antony of Heriot-Watt University.

Steve started implementing continuous improvement techniques in Manufacturing in 1998, becoming a Six Sigma Black Belt in 2003.  Since then he has supported a wide variety of industries with their Lean and Six Sigma implementation from Public Sector to trade unions, from medical products to housing associations.

Manufacturing projects have made savings of up to £130k and some of the more unusual projects he has supported include:

  • Balancing resource needed to review change requests – £45k saving
  • Predicting and controlling non-normal engineering spend across 800 units in a housing association
  • Better utilisation of aircraft timeslots – £15k saving
  • Reducing audits required by profiling, and predicting audit scores – £50k saving
  • Building a Health and Safety measurement system to compare potential risk across sites

With a diploma from Harvard University, an MBA and a Masters in Engineering, Steve has enviable academic rigour in his approach, blended with down to earth practicality, humour and approachability.  Delegates on his courses are challenged, but find it easy to learn: “I was dreading having to do this course, but I have really enjoyed it.  I have learned so much, so painlessly, that I am actually looking forward to each day.” Senior Manager, Public Sector.

Supporting such a broad range of industries and projects, Steve is developing new Six Sigma methods to address complex issues.  These include non-normal control charts, reverse DOE, and utilising Six Sigma in non-standard situations such as validating senior business decision making processes.

As well as being a leading UK Six Sigma specialist, Steve is also a qualified business advisor (Sfedi and ILM) and management systems assessor (EFQM, ISO9001:2008, Investors In People) This enables him to support organisations in all aspects of their Six Sigma journey, by integrating change and embedding results at all levels of a business.
